Jim Saucier is a hardworking and very versatile craftsman who consistently stands out. He is talented and brings a strong work ethic and leadership skills with him to work every day.
We would like to honor him as November employee of the month due to his recent safety intervention. When Jim observed an unsafe act occurring on a project, he acted swiftly and assertively to ensure that nobody was injured.
We work in an environment that can be challenging and high pressure. Nonetheless, Jim brings a positive attitude to work every day. He manages to shrug off the challenges and move forward with every project.
Throughout his 20+ years, Jim has followed the mantra, “when you see something say something” and for that, we are recognizing him.
MEET JIM SAUCIER
1. How long have you worked with Schad?
20+ Years.
2. What do you like most about working at Schad?
I like that the work is always challenging and different. You have to think of new and different ways to do the jobs. For example, when you work on an aluminum furnace you would think that the next one will be the same, but it never is. I also like the fast pace work, especially when working with different contractors. It is nice when you get to see all the moving parts come together.
3. What is your favorite part of your job?
I get to do other things besides just refractory work, like welding, fabricating, and running the pump.
4. How would you describe the Schad culture?
Schad has a close culture. We are all one big family looking out for one another.
5. What is your fondest memory of working at Schad?
Installing the lining in the #15 furnace at Nemak Gateway and seeing it go over nine years with minimum repairs. Also, working with George, particularly when he involves me in the planning process of a job.
6. What advice do you have for future Schad candidates?
Listen to people. We have a lot of really talented workers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is there to help you.
7. What do you like to do outside of work?
Ride my motorcycle and spend time with family.
