Schad employees are the backbone of our success, and we couldn’t do the great work we accomplish without them. Each month, we make it a priority to feature one of our dedicated team members to showcase high-quality performance and the Schad spirit at work.

This month we are proud to feature Delray Washington. Delray is a driver/warehouseman at our Detroit warehouse. He embodies many of the values Schad strives to deliver each day, and we’re honored to have him as a part of our team. With his great work ethic and positive attitude, we’re proud to feature Delray as May’s employee of the month.

Why is Delray deserving of the employee of the month designation?

“Delray always ensures that the warehouse is running smoothly. He has also taken on a new responsibility over the past month—and done so extremely well—in regards to keeping track of materials to and from our jobs. I truly enjoy working with him because of his attitude—he is always positive and willing to help. Meet Delray:

How long have you worked with Schad?

I’ve been with Schad since November 1, 2010—so, coming up on five years.

What do you like most about working with Schad?

Of course, my paycheck (ha-ha!). I like the overall setting of a small company. It’s not like working in a factory—here you get to be a part of a lot of things.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

I don’t have to do the same thing every day; I always get to do something different. One day I’m driving a truck, the next day I’m loading boxes; I might be cutting grass one day—whatever needs to be done. It’s a nice variety.

How would you describe the Schad culture?

I would say it’s family oriented, and the company really tries to keep everybody happy. Whatever you ask for they’ll help you get it, as long as it’s fair and reasonable.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m a family man. I like to do a lot of things with the kids—picnics, barbeques, bowling and a little bit of fishing. Just truly enjoying family time.

If you could go to one concert, past or present, which one would it be?

Run DMC. I’ve seen them before, but it was so far back—in the mid-‘80s—I don’t really remember it much. I was young, and I would like to relive that experience. But, it’s impossible now, as they’re not all still here.
