February’s Employee of the Month is Mike Burak. Since he joined Schad,Mike Burak of Schad Refractory
Mike has consistently proven that he is dedicated to his team and getting all projects done on time. He is always looking for an opportunity to diversify his skillset and improve his understanding of refractory materials and applications.

Mike enjoys the challenges that come with all of Schad’s projects. He consistently seeks out ways to make his department and the people he works with more valuable to the company.

Mike is a proud veteran with a strong commitment to Schad’s culture, safety, and its mission. We are proud to “salute” him as the Schad employee of the month.

MEET MIKE BURAK

1. What do you like most about working at Schad?

The diversity of workload, coupled with “time sensitive due dates” of customer projects, and “continuous improvement” of all aspects of the Fabrication/Pre-Cast Shop, leads to safe, steadfast activity, accomplishing projects with quality and attention-to-detail, and “never having a boring day!”

 

2. How has Schad helped your career development, and what are your future career goals?

With previous education and experience in Construction and Metal Fabrication, exposure and training in the Refractory Field have provided countless opportunities to acquire new skills and to understand Refractory Materials and Applications, thus leading to possibilities of new assignments within the company as a future candidate for a Project Manager.

 

3. How would you describe the Schad culture?

The Schad Culture is ever growing and evolving to keep up with the changing business world. New ideas and feedback from Schad Employees are received and implemented, as is “time and money saving” procedures and improvements.

 

4. What is your fondest memory of working at Schad?

My first day of employment at Schad. It was the start of a new career.

 

5. What do you like to do outside of work?

Spending “Quality Time” with my Family; taking short vacations to the South West areas of the U.S., and working on my “Golf Game.”

 

6. If you could go to one concert, past or present, which would it be?

Woodstock. Definitely Woodstock! “ROCK ON!”

 

7. If given the chance, who would you like to be for a day?

At present time…….Donald Trump!

 

8. What advice do you have for future Schad candidates?

Be safe and focused, have a good work ethic and attitude, be open minded to learn new specific job tasks (which turns into new skills), communicate effectively, do your best every day, maintain a sense of humor, and have “fun in your work.”
