Schad’s May Employee of the Month: James Ellis

James Ellis has earned the honor of the Schad’s “Employee of the Month” for his technical competence, dedication to safety, and quality of workmanship. Since he started working at Schad a little less than a year ago, James has James Ellis Schad's May Employee of the Month proven to be dependable and can be relied upon to accomplish any task that is assigned to him.

In addition to providing excellent customer service, James’ technical competency, and problem-solving skills are outstanding. His ability to analyze mechanical issues, pinpoint the root cause, and then either apply corrective actions or suggest recommendations is invaluable.

Every day, James comes to work with a positive “can-do” attitude and is a team player who is consistently motivated to learn new procedures while keeping safety and quality at the forefront of his mind. Whether he is working alone or on a team, James always meets or exceeds established standards. He truly embodies the attributes of a great Schad employee.

MEET JAMES ELLIS

How long have you worked with Schad?

Since June 8, 2016, just under a year.

What do you like most about working at Schad?

The variety of work in the shop. There is always a new and different project coming in.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I like the welding, building and creating of the projects.

How has Schad helped your career development, and what are your future career goals?

Learning about welding, I’d like to continue gaining the skills to become a great fabricator.

How would you describe the Schad culture?

The comradery with the shop crew. I also feel like this is a very safe place to work.

What is your fondest memory of working at Schad?

One specific project when we had to patch a chunk of metal on a tilt runner. It was an intricate, difficult job that we succeeded in doing.

What advice do you have for future Schad candidates?

Wear your dust mask along with all other PPE.

What do you like to do outside of work?

All outdoor activities, like hunting, fishing and working in the garage.

What is something unique about you?

I can diagnose any problems pertaining to cars. Fixing engines and motors.

If you could go to one concert, past or present, which would it be?

I have been to over 700 shows, and I would see them all again. If I choose one that I haven’t seen, it would be Johnny Cash.

If given the chance, who would you like to be for a day?

Jeremy Wade. He travels the world to explore the history and fish of the most gruesome places.
