Over the last year, Mike has become a great asset to Schad’s Kansas City office. As the lead on Schad’s acid brick and coating work, Mike has become a vital member of the team. He is always looking to further his refractory knowledge and learn new aspects of the trade. Mike can be relied upon to complete jobs accurately, safely and on time.
1. How long have you worked with Schad?
Just over a year.
2. What is your favorite part about your job?
The crew’s commitment and pride in completing a project efficiently.
3. Who at Schad has taught you the most?
I have benefitted greatly from the superintendents on the ethanol and lime side.
Regarding the chemical aspects of the job, Brance Hall has improved my knowledge of the acid products of the company.
4. What do you think contributes most to a safe work environment?
Daily toolbox talks before we start work. The men understanding the basic and extensive safety measures are important in creating a safe atmosphere.
5. What lessons have you learned while working at Schad?
I have learned different sides of the trade other than laying red brick.
6. What advice do you have for future Schad candidates?
The knowledge you will gain from this company is endless. The skills the journeymen will teach you will help you to further your career.
7. What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy being with my family and watching the Chiefs win Super Bowls.

How to fly stealth bombers.
9. If you could go to one concert, past or present, which would it be?
Lynyrd Skynyrd.
10. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Buy the whole neighborhood and move all my family in.
