On Friday, November 5, Schad teamed up with United Refractories Company (URC) to co-host a shotcrete and gunite demonstration. The event started with a “lunch and learn” and was followed by a live demonstration.
“United Refractories is a great company. We’ve bought from them in the past, and we continue to look for opportunities we can pursue together. This was a good experience for our guys to meet with their team and learn more about the materials,” said Ross Lee, Vice President at Schad Refractory.
During the live demonstration Schad and URC shot test panels using UNI-GUN RF-60 RG (gunite product) and UNI-SHOT 60 (shotcrete product). During the gunite demonstration, the group focused on the advantages of using the URC “Dust Buster” nozzle, while during the shotcrete demonstration, the team paid particular attention to the consistency and speed with which the material can be applied.
“These are great products to get in front of the Schad team all at once. We’ve worked with them both a lot in the past, but this gave us the opportunity to collaborate a bit more and learn from each other,” Lee said. “It’s always good to have a refresher on certain techniques and ensure you’re using the best methods. I think this Lunch and Learn did that for our team.”
